The Study of Homeless¢¥ Health Behavior in Pusan Area



Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide necessary data for examining efficient homeless control policies by evaluating installation meaning of a homeless camp, effect of the operation, and homeless¢¥ health status and investigating factors which have an effect on homeless¢¥ health.
Through this purpose, this study might suggest fundamental guidelines necessary for making national health care and welfare policies to this negl(vted class as well as improvement plans of facilities controlling plans and methods.
The major results of this study arc as follows :
First, as a result of physical examination by physicians on those who were put into a camp, it was found that 64.7 percent(454s) who had their cases di,ignoscd had diseases. This rate(64.7%) is 3 times of those who were suspected of disease(23.3%) in the result of physical examination for the insured by NHIC(Natiowil health Insurance Corporation).
As a result of psychological diagnosis through medical examination, it was surveryed that 13.44 percent had clinically psychological difficulties and were redtuired diagnosis by psychiatrists.
Second, as a result of logistic regression including all related variables to find factors which have an effect on homeless¢¥ health, fitness of the model was 66.614 so it was suitable(P<0.01.).
For variables which are statistically significant among related variables, it was found that homeless who were parted from their wives or husbands by death, have no jobs, participate in the public labor project, usually live on vegetables and meat together compared to vegetables only, and smoke now showed many cases of abnormality compared to unmarried.
As a result of logistic regression with a model without diet, smoking and drinking related variables, the fitness was 68.545 so it was suitable(P<0.01).
For variables which are statistically significant under control of other variables, the more was education level and jobs before unemployment were sedentary works, the less was few cases of abnormality. And it was found that homeless who had no disease but recognized that they were unhealthy showed many cases of abnormality compared to those who recognized that they were healthy.
